Frequently Asked Questions

Who does COR serve?

COR serves students and their families in the Carver cluster who attend a Purpose Built School. We’re embedded in two school locations—Carver STEAM Academy and Price Middle School—and support the entire student population. But here’s the thing: Once a COR Kid, Always a COR Kid. That means our graduates always have a safe and supportive space to return to.

Students, their families, and school staff from our partner schools:

  • Carver STEAM Academy
  • Price Middle School
  • Slater Elementary School

Since Carver Early College shares a campus with Carver STEAM, we also extend this Tier 1 service to their students and families as well.

Yes, and we’d love that! Community donations help us keep our grocery shelves and clothing closet stocked. We appreciate your generosity and ask that all donations uphold the dignity of our students and families. Since we’re a small nonprofit, we can’t spend time sorting through mountains of miscellaneous items, so please be thoughtful about what and how you donate.

We’re at the back of Carver’s campus at 55 McDonough Blvd SE.

Once on campus, follow the CORner Store signs. If we’re open, you’ll see a sign with a phone number—give us a call, and we’ll come out to assist you.

While COR doesn’t offer formal, traditional therapy, our licensed clinicians and social work interns work to fill critical gaps in Mental Wellness support for students in under-resourced schools and communities. Our approach includes:

  • One-on-One Behavioral Health Check-Ins – Brief, solution-focused sessions to support students facing emotional or behavioral challenges.
  • Support Groups & Activities – Targeted support groups for students experiencing anxiety, anger, grief and loss, as well as, skill-based groups focused on emotional regulation and resiliency. We also provide safe, affirming spaces for LGBTQIA+ teens to connect, find support, and celebrate their identities. These groups provide a space to not only build coping skills, but also confidence and peer support.
  • Individual Brief Interventions – Short-term, trauma-informed strategies to help students navigate immediate challenges.

We also collaborate with school-based mental health partners to ensure students get the right level of care based on their unique needs. Our goal is to meet students and families where they are and provide innovative, accessible support that makes a lasting impact – all while never leaving their school building.

Please complete a COR Interest Form or speak with your school’s counselor or social worker to get your student connected with us today!

Yes! We recently launched a Student & Caregiver Portal where you can find up-to-date info on all our services. We offer:

  • In-class prevention training for all grade levels.
  • Tailored behavioral health support groups during and after school.

Visit our portal to learn more,
sign your student up for a training or support group, or for partners and school staff to submit a referral.

We know that transportation barriers can make it tough to access resources, and we’re here to help.

If you need a ride to or from the CORner Store, let us know—we’ll find a creative way to make sure you get what you need. If your work schedule doesn’t allow you to visit during our open hours, reach out, and we’ll figure something out.

Great question! We typically follow the school calendar, which means we take breaks during summer and school holidays. This time allows us to rest, recharge, and gear up to serve you at our best. The exact schedule may vary, so for the latest updates, follow us on Instagram @whatsyourcor or check our Student & Caregiver Portal.
