Creating conditions for

learning

& thriving

Historically excluded kids need more than academic instruction to succeed.

Yet, underfunded schools aren’t equipped to provide extra support or resources.

That’s where COR comes in.

A soft space to land

Every student deserves to have their basic needs met—including trusted adults they can confide in. We provide that support system for the Carver cluster, where all schools are economically disadvantaged and many children are trauma-impacted.

COR Services

We provide free programming to trauma-impacted students and families marginalized by poverty and race-based educational inequities.

Essentials like groceries, hygiene products, and clothing are easily taken for granted.

But without them, it’s difficult for kids to focus, or make it through a full day of school.

Imagine the negative impact the lack of basic needs can have over time. We collect and distribute essential items to kids, families, and even staff members, and connect struggling households to essential wraparound services in the community.

What We Provide:

  • School-embedded free grocery store and clothing closet
  • Hygiene supplies
  • Period products
  • Access to transportation assistance
  • Access to housing advocacy
  • Connection to community resources and partners

The intersection of poverty and institutional racism profoundly shapes the well-being of students of color, placing them at increased risk for anxiety, depression, suicide, and substance use, while also limiting their access to essential support and resources.

Youth of color and those from low-income backgrounds continue to face substantial barriers to accessing mental health care—a crisis deepened by the pandemic. Today, 41% of Georgia children struggle to get the mental health care they need.

At our COR Hubs, we create safe, inclusive spaces where young people of all backgrounds can access emotional support, build meaningful relationships, and develop the confidence, self-advocacy, and self-expression essential to their growth and resilience.

What We Provide:

  • Student HUBs are open during the school day for emotional support, de-escalation, brief interventions, therapeutic and student interest groups.
  • Our community HUB serves as a meeting and gathering space for families and community partners.
  • After-school activities include African drumming, community service, and prevention education trainings.

We believe in the power of prevention to create lasting change.

Our prevention education services bridge gaps in the school curriculum by equipping students and families with essential life skills and knowledge to make safe, informed decisions.

Through proactive, age-appropriate trainings and partnerships with community organizations, we give students and families the tools to confidently navigate challenges like conflict, relationships, and risky behaviors.

What We Provide:

  • In-school prevention training at every grade level, including topics like anti-trafficking and exploitation, intimate partner violence, conflict resolution, violence, and substance abuse prevention

  • Trainings and workshops in partnership with our community partners
